March 11, 1942 – January 3, 2025

Margaret Mary Jassoy (née Dunne), age 82, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Friday, January 3, 2025, in San Diego, California.

Margaret was born to Walter and Nola Dunne. She was the ninth of ten siblings raised in an Irish-Catholic household. Throughout her life Margaret remained very close to her siblings and her extended family.

She was married to Robert “Bob” Jassoy, Jr. for 58 wonderful years. Both Margaret and Bob were born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. They met when Bob was working as an accountant and he visited the doctor’s office where Margaret worked. It was a perfect match.

In 1968, after two years of marriage, they packed up the car and drove to San Diego to be near Bob’s father, who retired there following a career in the U.S. Navy. Margaret and Bob raised two children and built a wonderful life together. Margaret enjoyed her work as a medical assistant for Dr. Michael Saliba in La Jolla, where she worked for more than 15 years.

Margaret was proud of her Irish heritage. She traces her roots back to the early 1800’s in County Cork, Ireland. She still has relatives residing in County Tipperary.

Margaret was the gentle guide of reason in any situation. She had an uncanny ability to make the complicated seem simple and the stressful seem manageable. She was always there to encourage and inspire. She was smart, witty, cheerful, kind and pleasant to everyone. She loved a good party with a glass of Pinot Grigio. When she wasn’t enjoying time with close friends and family, she was content at home with puzzles and mystery novels.

Margaret is survived by her husband Bob, their two children, Robert Jassoy (Karen) and Karen Flynn (Robert), and two grandchildren, Gavin and Maille Flynn. Margaret was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She has many nieces, nephews and relatives who are too numerous to list. Margaret will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
